The Federal Road Safety Corps, RS11.2 Ondo Sector Command, has honoured a correspondent of Television Continental, Ayodeji Moradeyo, with the Impressive Reporter Award for his consistent coverage of road safety activities in the state.
Moradeyo received the award at a special appreciation and get-together ceremony organised by the Corps in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Also honoured at the event were the Chairman of Progress Furniture, Prince Kamisi Adebiyi, and some officers of the command for their contributions to road safety advocacy.
Presenting the award, the Sector Commander, Samuel Ibitoye, commended the journalist for what he described as professional, objective and balanced reportage of the Corps’ operations.
Ibitoye noted that the FRSC, established about 38 years ago, was created to reduce road traffic crashes and promote safer highways across the country through collaboration with relevant stakeholders and sister agencies.
He added that personnel of the Corps work under challenging conditions to rescue accident victims and enforce traffic regulations, stressing that sustained public enlightenment campaigns and media support had improved compliance with safety measures such as speed limits and seat belt use.
The commander also highlighted the impact of the Corps’ road traffic radio and research-based initiatives in strengthening public awareness and reducing crashes on highways.
According to him, the ceremony was organised to celebrate achievements and appreciate officers and partners who had demonstrated dedication and compassion in the course of duty.
In his remarks, Moradeyo expressed appreciation to the Corps for the recognition, describing the award as both an honour and a motivation to intensify efforts in promoting road safety through responsible journalism.
He pledged continued balanced coverage of FRSC programmes and initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives on Nigerian roads.
