Some men believed to be Nigerians have raised the alarm over what they described as prolonged detention in an Indian prison, alleging that they have been held for between 10 and 12 years without trial or clear justification.
The allegations were made in a video shared on Facebook by a page identified as Authentic Voice and later sighted byVeracity News
In the footage, the men, who spoke with Nigerian accents, appeared visibly distressed as they appealed for urgent intervention, claiming that authorities had refused to conclude their cases or facilitate their return to Nigeria.
One of the detainees was heard saying, “12 years, 10 years we are here for no reason. Close our case, send us home. They cannot allow. This is what they are doing to us. They lock us inside all.”
The speaker further stated that the video was recorded on January 31, 2026, while lamenting what he described as harsh and inhumane conditions inside the facility.
The men repeatedly called on the Nigerian government and relevant agencies to come to their aid, insisting that they had been abandoned despite spending over a decade in detention.
Efforts by Veracity News to independently verify the authenticity of the video and the claims made by the detainees were unsuccessful.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission had yet to issue any official response to the video or the allegations contained in it.
