Hillside University of Science and Technology has admitted a new set of students into its academic community, with a charge on them to uphold integrity and strive for excellence in their studies and conduct.
The institution held its third matriculation ceremony on Wednesday at the Odubabaakoko Auditorium, drawing academics, traditional rulers, government officials, parents and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Iheanyichukwu Okoro, congratulated the newly admitted students, describing the ceremony as a defining moment that signals their formal entry into the university system.
He said the institution is built on the core values of integrity and excellence, urging the students to reflect these principles in their academic pursuits and interpersonal relationships.
“This is a community founded on integrity and driven by excellence. Your stay here should not only be about acquiring certificates but also about developing character and purpose,” he said.
Okoro explained that the university’s philosophy centres on the development of intellectual capacity, moral standards and practical skills, stressing that education must go beyond classroom learning.
He added that the institution is committed to producing graduates who are innovative, self-reliant and capable of contributing meaningfully to society.
The Vice-Chancellor also advised the students to remain focused and disciplined, urging them to justify the confidence reposed in them by their parents and guardians.
The Registrar, Mercy Lyons, administered the matriculation oath, enjoining the students to abide by the rules and regulations of the university.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included the Ekiti State Coordinator of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Ishola Ganiyu, and the traditional ruler of Okemesi-Ekiti, Oba Michael Gbadebo Adedeji Arinwonye II, who was represented by High Chief Ilesanmi Ajibade.
