The Nigerian Army has opened applications for its 91st Regular Recruits Intake, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply as tradesmen and non-trades personnel.
The recruitment portal is scheduled to go live on March 30, 2026, and will close on May 17, 2026, giving applicants a limited window to complete their registration for the annual exercise.
Prospective candidates are required to visit the official portal at https://recruitment.army.mil.ng/ and select the 91RRI application category. Applicants are advised to carefully review all entry requirements before proceeding with registration.
To begin the process, candidates must create an account using a valid email address and then complete the online form by providing accurate personal details, including educational qualifications, National Identification Number, Bank Verification Number, and state of origin. Those applying as tradesmen or women are also expected to include relevant professional certifications.
Applicants are urged to thoroughly verify their entries before submission. After successful registration, they are to download and print their acknowledgement slip and photo card, as failure to complete the process online may result in disqualification.
To qualify, applicants must be single Nigerian citizens by birth, medically and physically fit, and free from any criminal record. They must also have a minimum of four credit passes, including English Language, in not more than two sittings in recognised examinations such as WASSCE, NECO, or NABTEB.
Non-trades applicants must be between 18 and 22 years, while trades applicants must not be older than 26 years as of June 30, 2026. In addition, candidates must meet the minimum height requirement of 1.68 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females and must present valid birth and state of origin certificates.
Successful applicants will be invited for screening exercises in their respective states of origin, where they will undergo physical fitness tests, medical examinations, and verification of credentials. Candidates are expected to present required documents, including their photo card, parental consent, guarantor’s form, and endorsements from relevant authorities.
The Army stated that there will be no pre-selection computer-based test and warned candidates against bringing electronic devices to screening centres. It also cautioned that tattoos, body inscriptions, and multiple piercings are not permitted and may lead to disqualification.
Applicants were also warned against paying money to anyone for assistance, stressing that the recruitment process is free. Any candidate found with forged documents will be disqualified and handed over to the police.
Shortlisted candidates will be published on the Army’s official website, with screening expected to hold between June 9 and June 23, 2026.
The Army added that a career in the force offers structured progression, steady income, access to training opportunities, healthcare benefits, pension, and exposure to both national and international assignments, as well as post-service career opportunities.
