The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Sunday hosted an Iftar gathering at his residence in Okeagbe Akoko, bringing together Muslim faithful from across the 18 local government areas of the state.
The event, organised in the spirit of the Ramadan season, provided an opportunity for the Muslim community to break their fast together while promoting unity and fellowship among participants.
Addressing the gathering, Tunji-Ojo highlighted the significance of compassion, charity and togetherness during Ramadan, urging Muslims to use the holy month for reflection and support for the less privileged.
The minister also extended Ramadan support to about 1,500 Muslims drawn from various parts of the state.
Each beneficiary received a 25kg bag of rice, N50,000 cash, a copy of the Holy Qur’an, four kilogrammes of semovita, as well as takeaway meals and refreshments.
Several beneficiaries and community leaders expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a timely intervention for many families during the fasting period.
Islamic clerics who attended the programme also offered prayers for the minister, his family and for peace and progress in the state and the country.
The Iftar gathering concluded with prayers for unity, development and continued harmony among residents of the state.
