The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit following the recent decision by Dangote Refinery to lower its gantry price.
Checks on Wednesday showed that NNPCL retail outlets in Abuja and surrounding areas adjusted their petrol price to N1,165 per litre, down from N1,260 recorded on Tuesday.
The adjustment represents a reduction of N95 per litre by the state-owned oil company.
Daily Post gathered that the new pump price had already taken effect at several NNPCL filling stations, including those located in Jabi, Lifecamp, Wuse Zone 5, and Wuse Zone 4 in the Federal Capital Territory.
At the same outlets, Automotive Gas Oil, commonly known as diesel, was sold at N1,535 per litre.
Other marketers also reviewed their pump prices, with NIPCO dispensing petrol at about N1,195 per litre, while AP and AA Rano sold the product at N1,200 and N1,223 per litre respectively.
A manager at an MRS filling station, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the outlet was preparing to further reduce its petrol price.
“We will bring down our petrol price to about N1,167 per litre starting from Thursday,” the manager said.
The latest adjustment followed an earlier reduction in petrol prices across several filling stations after Dangote Refinery cut its gantry price to N1,075 per litre amid a decline in global crude oil prices.
