The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspects for alleged conspiracy and attempted child stealing in Ogbagi Akoko, Ondo State.
The command disclosed that the incident occurred on March 22, 2026, following a distress report by a resident, identified as Olanireti, whose three-year-old son, Alex Ayobami, was nearly abducted.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the child had been sent to meet his grandmother, who resides behind the family’s shop, when a concerned resident noticed suspicious movements involving the minor and raised the alarm.
“Acting swiftly on the information, the complainant rushed to the scene and discovered two suspects attempting to flee on an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle with the child,” the statement read.
The suspects were identified as Adefarati Idowu and Adepoju Babatunde.
The police said the child’s grandmother, Olawale, intervened by holding onto the motorcycle, while other residents mobilised and prevented the suspects from escaping.
