The National Association of Akungba Students, AAUA Chapter, has marked its first 180 days in office, highlighting a series of welfare, academic and community initiatives undertaken by its leadership within six months.
In a statement commemorating the milestone, the association described the period as one defined by commitment to service, unity and measurable impact on students in Akungba.
The student body said it secured admission opportunities for prospective students in Akoko, facilitated bursary placements for indigent members and provided targeted support programmes aimed at easing financial and academic pressures.
It added that examination palliatives were distributed during test periods, while free shuttle services were organised to address transportation challenges faced by students.
According to the association, it also empowered members through strategic initiatives, paid the school fees of a member as a gesture of solidarity and distributed free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board forms to secondary school students to support access to higher education.
Under recognition and engagement efforts, the group said it honoured a prominent stakeholder, Adegboyega Adefarati, for his contributions to student development and strengthened ties with lecturers and community leaders through familiarisation visits.
The association further noted that it organised a three-day student engagement programme featuring sporting activities, a history session, social events and the unveiling of an official football jersey to promote unity and identity among members.
It also launched a bulletin project titled “Who is Who in Akungba” aimed at documenting notable personalities in the community.
Describing the achievements as a foundation for greater impact, the leadership reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, student welfare and inclusive representation.
The statement expressed appreciation to stakeholders and supporters, noting that the progress recorded so far would serve as a springboard for further initiatives in the coming months.
