The Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, has produced 50 First Class graduates out of 1,452 students for the 2024/2025 academic session as the state governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, pledged to complete abandoned projects within the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Temi Ologunorisa, disclosed this during the institution’s 9th convocation ceremony held on Wednesday in Okitipupa.
According to the VC, the graduating students include 50 in the First Class category, 594 in Second Class Upper Division, 691 in Second Class Lower Division, and 115 in the Third Class Division.
Ologunorisa also announced that the institution produced its first PhD graduate, Mr Oluwaseun Adesina Olukoya, from the Department of Mathematics with specialisation in Complex Analysis.
He added that the overall Best Graduating Student, Wale Isiah Agboola of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, recorded a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.90, while Dominion Oyindamola Akinwunmi of the Computer Science Department emerged the best female graduating student with a CGPA of 4.89.
The Vice-Chancellor said the university had recorded significant growth under his administration, noting that students’ population increased from less than 5,000 in 2022 to about 12,000 currently.
He added that the institution admitted about 4,500 students for the 2025/2026 academic session, the highest in its history.
Ologunorisa explained that the university had also expanded from three to seven faculties, introduced new academic programmes, strengthened collaborations with international universities, and maintained a stable academic calendar.

The VC further revealed that one of the university’s scholars, Dr Cecilia Oluwamodupe, developed a scientifically formulated herbal medicine known as “Fix It,” which has been patented by the Federal Government and is said to boost immunity and support cardiovascular health.
Ologunorisa commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for introducing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund initiative, describing it as one of the most impactful policies for students in the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Segun Omojuwa, promised that the state government would complete all abandoned projects within the university.
The projects include the School of Science building, the School of Information and Communication Technology building, and students’ hostels initiated by the Niger Delta Development Commission and the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission.
The governor said completing the projects would improve the learning environment and support the institution’s continued growth.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector through its EASE agenda, which focuses on Education, Agriculture, Security, Entrepreneurship, and Infrastructure development.
Aiyedatiwa also commended Ologunorisa for repositioning the institution and expanding its academic programmes, including courses such as Cyber Security, Marine Science, and Meteorology, as well as postgraduate degrees in engineering.
He urged the graduating students to uphold the values of the university and contribute meaningfully to national development.
“Be ambassadors of this institution and strive for excellence in all that you do,” the governor said.
