The wife of the Olubaka of Okaland, HRM Olori Adejumoke Adeleye, has been conferred with the Olori of the Year Award by a renowned news medium, Sunshine Standard Magazine.
Olori Adejumoke was honoured in Akure on Sunday at the OSDPC Multipurpose Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Speaking at the event, the Olubaka of Okaland, Oba (Dr) Yusuf Adebori Adeleye OON, commended his wife while advocating more leadership roles for women in society.
Represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Transport, Akogun Olugbenga Omole, Oba Adeleye said, “It is with profound gratitude that I stand before you as the Royal Father of the Day. This recognition is not personal but communal. Women are the silent architects of peace.”
“We must continue to appreciate and empower women. I use this opportunity to advocate for more leadership roles for women.
“However, I appeal to industrious sons and daughters to complement the efforts of the government. Together, we can build the Ondo State of tomorrow.”
In her reaction, Olori Adeleye expressed optimism that Ondo State would be prosperous and grow in leaps and bounds, while she extolled the news medium for deeming it fit to honour her.
In his lecture, titled ‘Building the Ondo State of Tomorrow: Innovation, Enterprise and Good Governance,’ the Head of Department of Mass Communication, Dr Gbenga Abimbola, applauded the efforts of past governors of the state while advising the government to build the people and develop the land.
He urged the Ondo State Government to strengthen the state security network, codenamed Amotekun, to curb growing insecurity in the state.
