The newly elected Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Hon. Babatunde Kolawole, on Tuesday promised to reposition the party for unity, inclusiveness and electoral victories, declaring that the era of internal division was over.
Kolawole, who emerged at the party’s state congress, described his election as “a new dawn of unity and progress” for the APC in the state, assuring members that his leadership would accommodate all interests and tendencies within the fold.
Addressing party leaders, delegates and supporters shortly after his emergence, the chairman attributed his victory to divine grace and the collective will of members, noting that the mandate belonged to the entire party.
He commended the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for providing what he called a level playing field for all aspirants and for demonstrating commitment to internal democracy.
Kolawole assured the governor of the party’s unflinching support for his administration, pledging that the APC under his watch would remain united, organised and committed to translating government policies into tangible results for the people of the state.
The new chairman extended an olive branch to other contestants in the race, stressing that there was no victor and no vanquished in the exercise.
“In a contest such as this, there is no winner or loser. My victory is our collective victory. We must come together for the peace and progress of our party,” he said.
He thanked delegates, ward leaders, local government executives and party faithful for the confidence reposed in him, describing his emergence as a call to greater service and responsibility.
Kolawole declared that his leadership would not be driven by factional interests, vowing to build what he termed “a strong and united APC in Ondo State” that every member would be proud of.
According to him, the party must now move from competition to collaboration, adding that elections may have tested differences but leadership must unite strengths.
He outlined his vision for the party to become “a fortress of unity, a platform for inclusion, a machine of discipline and strategy, and a home for every loyal member.”
The chairman pledged to energise the grassroots structure of the party, empower youths with defined responsibilities, elevate women into leadership positions and tap into the wisdom of elders in steering the affairs of the APC.
“No one will be sidelined. No one will be ignored,” he said, while also emphasising the need for discipline, loyalty and commitment among members.
Kolawole further promised transparent and accessible leadership, assuring members that decisions taken under his watch would prioritise the unity and strength of the party.
“Our mission is bigger than positions and personal ambition. It is about service, impact and winning the confidence of the people we seek to represent,” he added.
He urged party members to close ranks and work together to reposition the APC for future electoral contests, expressing optimism that with collective resolve, the party would not only win elections but also deliver on its promises to the people.
Kolawole concluded by calling for renewed energy, discipline and hope within the party, declaring that a historic chapter had begun for the APC in Ondo State.
