The member representing Warri Constituency I in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Augustine Uroye, has described the emergence of Chief Solomon Areyenka as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State as a widely accepted decision by party stakeholders across the state.
Uroye, in a reaction to the outcome of the party’s congress, said Areyenka’s election reflected the collective will of party leaders, stakeholders and grassroots members who are committed to strengthening the APC in Delta State.
The lawmaker stated that the new chairman’s emergence demonstrated the confidence reposed in him by party members, describing him as “a square peg in a square hole” for the position.
According to Uroye, Areyenka’s political experience, administrative capacity and commitment to party ideals make him well suited to lead the party at a time when unity and strategic leadership are required.
He noted that the APC in Delta State needs a leader capable of harmonising interests across the three senatorial districts and consolidating the party’s structure ahead of future political engagements.
Uroye added that the decision to entrust the party’s leadership to Areyenka followed wide consultations among party leaders who are determined to reposition the APC for greater electoral competitiveness.
The lawmaker expressed confidence that the new chairman possesses the leadership qualities needed to strengthen party structures from the ward level to the state level.
He also commended party elders and stakeholders for prioritising competence and unity in the selection process, describing the development as a significant step towards building a stronger APC in the state.
Uroye expressed optimism that under Areyenka’s leadership, the party would witness increased unity among members and improved political coordination across Delta State.
