2027: APC speaks on sale of forms, submission deadline

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced an extension of the deadline for the sale and submission of nomination and Expression of Interest forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, disclosed this on Thursday while briefing journalists in Abuja after the 187th meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC).

According to him, the sale of forms will now close at midnight on Monday, May 4, 2026, while submission has been moved to midnight on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

Recall that the APC had on Tuesday commenced the sale of forms for aspirants seeking various elective positions, following an earlier timetable which fixed April 25 to May 2, 2026, for the exercise. However, the process commenced later than initially planned.

Meseko explained that apart from the adjustment to the sale and submission timelines, all other schedules for the party’s primary elections remain unchanged.

He said: “We have just concluded the 187th meeting of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress today, Thursday, 30th April, 2026, and several resolutions were reached.

“The sales of nomination and expression of interest forms for offices under the APC for the forthcoming primaries have been extended till midnight of Monday, 4th May, 2026.

“Submission of forms, which was earlier fixed for Saturday, 2nd May, 2026, has also been extended to midnight of Tuesday, 5th May, 2026. This applies to all positions, including Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship and presidential tickets.

“Screening of aspirants will commence on Wednesday, 6th May, 2026. We urge all party officials and aspirants to take note of these adjustments,” he added.

He attributed the extension partly to the public holiday period, noting that the party had received increased requests from prospective aspirants seeking to purchase forms.

“All other timelines remain intact. Only the sales and submission deadlines have been adjusted,” Meseko clarified.

Meanwhile, political stakeholders in Taraba State have purchased Expression of Interest and Nomination forms on behalf of Governor Agbu Kefas to enable him contest for a second term in office in 2027.

The forms were obtained on Thursday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja by a delegation comprising lawmakers, party executives, and key stakeholders from the state.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Senator Haruna Manu said the move demonstrated overwhelming support for the governor’s re-election ambition.

“We are here to pick the nomination and expression of interest forms for the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, for a second term by the grace of God. As you can see, almost all critical stakeholders of the party in Taraba are here,” he said.

Manu added that the delegation only notified some stakeholders shortly before the exercise, expressing confidence that a larger turnout would be recorded during the return of the forms.

“We expect a bigger gathering when we return the forms on Monday. This goes beyond 2027; it is about continuity and consolidation,” he stated.
