Thousands of youths and students from Ondo North Senatorial District on Friday staged a solidarity walk in support of the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Olajide Ipinsagba ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development was contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the senator, Prince Adeyinka Ajagunna.
The rally, which attracted participants from tertiary institutions, youth groups, and community associations, cut across the six local government areas in the district, signalling what organisers described as growing grassroots backing for the two leaders.
According to the organisers, the march was aimed at mobilising support at the grassroots and reaffirming confidence in the leadership of Tinubu and Ipinsagba.
Speaking during the event, representatives of the Ondo North Youths and Students Coalition lauded the senator for his commitment to youth-focused initiatives, describing him as a lawmaker who translates promises into action.
They pledged to intensify mobilisation efforts to secure victory for both Tinubu and Ipinsagba in the 2027 elections.
In his remarks, Ipinsagba expressed appreciation for the turnout, noting that the support from young people across the district was encouraging.
He stressed that effective representation goes beyond legislative duties, adding that it must include interventions that directly impact constituents’ welfare.
The lawmaker also defended the policies of the Tinubu administration, saying ongoing reforms were laying a foundation for sustainable economic growth, while highlighting efforts in healthcare, empowerment programmes, and infrastructure within Ondo North.
Student leaders from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, and Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, who took part in the rally, said the show of support reflected confidence in the senator’s performance and connection with the people.
The coalition reiterated its commitment to sustained engagement at the grassroots, vowing to deliver strong electoral support for both candidates in the next general elections.
