The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command, on Wednesday disclosed that two suspects have been remanded in a correctional facility over alleged defilement of minors in separate cases.
The Command, in a statement issued on April 22, 2026, said the suspects — Emeka Chidi Innocent, 22, and Ayodele John, 38 — were arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Oke Eda, Akure, following the conclusion of preliminary investigations into the allegations.
According to the statement, the suspects were brought before Chief Magistrate Lebi Taiwo Olalekan on April 21, 2026, where the court reviewed the evidence presented by prosecutors.
“The Command has charged the suspects to court after concluding preliminary investigations into separate cases of alleged defilement reported on March 3 and April 14, 2026,” the statement read.
It added, “After reviewing the evidence before it, the court found that a prima facie case had been established against the defendants and consequently ordered their remand in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.”
The Command noted that the cases were adjourned to May 5 and May 21, 2026, respectively, for continuation of hearing.
Reaffirming its commitment to justice, the corps assured members of the public that it would continue to pursue cases involving the abuse of minors to a logical conclusion.
“The Command remains resolute in ensuring that perpetrators of crimes against vulnerable persons are brought to justice in accordance with the law,” the statement added.
The NSCDC also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report cases of abuse and other criminal activities to relevant authorities.
