Concerned members of the All Progressives Congress in Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency have dismissed claims that party leaders adopted a consensus candidate ahead of the 2027 elections, describing the report as misleading.
The group clarified that no directive was given and no agreement was reached to adopt any aspirant for elective office.
They stated that the viral report suggesting a unified endorsement of candidates was a misrepresentation of what transpired at the gathering and does not reflect the position of party stakeholders in the area.
The full statement titled: Re: Debunking of Viral Report Titled ‘IDANRE APC SPEAKS WITH ONE VOICE FOR 2027’,
reads:
“We, the concerned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, wish to categorically debunk the viral report titled ‘IDANRE APC SPEAKS WITH ONE VOICE FOR 2027,’ which falsely claimed that leaders met and adopted consensus candidates for the forthcoming elections.
“While we acknowledge that a meeting was indeed held among party stakeholders, we state unequivocally that no individual or authority at the meeting directed or instructed any leader to adopt a consensus arrangement for any elective position. At no point was any decision taken to endorse or adopt any aspirant as a consensus candidate.
“The claim that leaders unanimously agreed on a consensus candidate is therefore misleading, unfounded, and a clear misrepresentation of what transpired at the meeting.
“Furthermore, we wish to make it clear that the national leadership of the APC has not issued any directive or authorised any form of consensus arrangement as alleged in the said publication. Any claim suggesting otherwise is a deliberate attempt to misinform party members and the general public.
“We are deeply concerned that the actors behind this report are deliberately seeking to fan the embers of discord and possibly incite unrest within Idanre town and the wider federal constituency. It is on record that the community is currently enjoying a relative atmosphere of peace, and any attempt to disrupt this stability must be strongly condemned.
“We therefore call on relevant security agencies to immediately investigate the source of this publication, as well as the faceless individuals parading themselves as leaders who purportedly carried out the said adoption. Such actions, if left unchecked, pose a serious threat to the peace and unity of our constituency.
“We reaffirm our commitment to the unity, peace, and democratic values of the APC and the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency. We will not allow any individual or group to destabilise the hard-earned peace being enjoyed by our people.
