BREAKING: Many trapped as uncompleted hotel building collapses

Tension gripped residents of the Jikwoyi area of Abuja on Friday after an uncompleted hotel structure reportedly caved in, trapping an unspecified number of persons beneath the debris.

As reported by Daily Post, the building, identified as Ugo West Hotel, was said to be under construction at the time of the incident.

Eyewitness accounts indicated that the structure suddenly collapsed, catching workers and other occupants off guard and leaving several of them buried under the rubble.

The development sparked panic within the neighbourhood as residents and passersby rushed to the scene in a desperate attempt to rescue those trapped.

As of the time of filing this report, the number of casualties or injured persons had yet to be ascertained.

Emergency responders were still being awaited, while local volunteers had commenced preliminary rescue operations, clearing debris in search of survivors.

Efforts were ongoing to reach those feared trapped, as the situation continued to unfold.
