Top figures of the Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday convened an emergency closed-door meeting in Abuja in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling on the party’s lingering leadership crisis.
Among those in attendance are Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed, alongside members of the party’s Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee.
The meeting, which is taking place at Bauchi House in Asokoro, was still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
Also present are members of the National Assembly caucus, the National Caucus, state chairmen, and other key stakeholders of the opposition party.
Earlier, the Board of Trustees, under the leadership of its Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, had declared its intention to assume control of the party’s affairs pending the constitution of a caretaker committee.
The development follows the apex court’s decision, which has intensified the internal crisis rocking the PDP and triggered fresh consultations among its leaders.
