The Independent National Electoral Commission has deployed a new Resident Electoral Commissioner to Ondo State, with Mutiu Olaleke Agboke formally assuming office.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Akure by the state Administrative Secretary of the commission, Adenike Tadese.

According to the statement, Agboke becomes the 21st REC in the state, taking over from Oluwatoyin Babalola, who has been redeployed to Osun State.

INEC described the new REC as a seasoned legal practitioner and election management expert, noting that he hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006.

The commission added that Agboke previously served as a member of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission between 2012 and 2016.

It further noted that he had held similar positions in Ondo, Oyo and Osun states, where he played key roles in overseeing the 2019 and 2023 general elections.

INEC said the new REC is widely regarded for his commitment to integrity, transparency and professionalism in the discharge of his duties.

The commission expressed optimism that his experience would enhance electoral processes in Ondo State and ensure the conduct of credible, free and fair elections.
