A housewife, Mas’uda Ado, has approached an Upper Area Court in Kubwa, Abuja, seeking the dissolution of her marriage to her husband, Nasir Abubakar, over alleged lack of love and affection.
Mas’uda told the court that the marriage, contracted under Islamic law in January 2023, produced a daughter.
She said she no longer had feelings for her husband and urged the court to end the union.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the petitioner insisted that the marriage had broken down irretrievably due to absence of emotional attachment.
In his response, the husband appealed for time to reconcile with his wife, stating that he was still deeply attached to her.
“I have other wives, but she holds a special place,” he said.
The presiding judge, Mohammed Wakili, subsequently adjourned the matter to allow for possible settlement between the parties.
