The Ondo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has announced the suspension of its scheduled ward, local government and state congresses.

The party said the action was taken in response to a directive from the Independent National Electoral Commission instructing political parties to maintain the status quo.

This was contained in a statement released on Wednesday by the state chairman, Wole Ademoyegun.

He stated that the suspension takes immediate effect as the party aligns with INEC’s position pending the resolution of lingering issues.

Ademoyegun emphasised that the ADC remains committed to respecting the authority of the electoral umpire and observing due process.

He called on party members and stakeholders to remain peaceful, united and law-abiding during the period.

The chairman also warned against holding unauthorised meetings, noting that security agencies had been put on alert to prevent any disturbance.

The decision comes amid ongoing internal challenges within the party, even as the ADC maintains its readiness to contest the 2027 general elections.
