The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Kabiru Turaki has condemned the Nigeria Police Force over its decision to reopen the party’s national secretariat in Abuja and hand it over to a rival group.
The police had, on Saturday, unsealed the PDP national secretariat located in Zone 5, Wuse, as well as Legacy House in the Maitama District of the Federal Capital Territory. Both facilities were subsequently handed to a faction headed by Abdulrahman Mohammed, believed to be aligned with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Reacting, the Turaki faction, through its spokesperson, Ini Ememobong, criticised the action, alleging partiality on the part of the police despite the subsisting legal dispute over the party’s leadership.
Ememobong argued that the matter remains before the court and should not have attracted any action that could be interpreted as favouring one side.
He stated that the judgment being relied upon by the police had already been appealed, stressing that the force, as a party to the case, was fully aware of the legal position.
