Sam Maris University (SMU), Supare-Akoko, Ondo State, has reinforced its support for security operations with the donation of brand-new vehicle tyres to the Supare-Akoko Police Division.
The gesture reflects the University’s commitment to supporting security agencies in maintaining safety within its host community.
The donation was made after a visit by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Ayodeji Lijofi, to the University on March 5, 2026.
During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Gbore, reaffirmed the institution’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force.
He added that the partnership is aimed at sustaining the existing security architecture on campus and across the host communities.
Presenting the tyres on Thursday, Prof. Gbore reiterated the University’s commitment to supporting police operations and called on well-meaning Nigerians and organisations to support security agencies in strengthening community safety.
“The Nigeria Police Force requires continued support to effectively discharge its responsibilities. Sam Maris University will therefore continue to support the Force. I also call on well-meaning Nigerians and organisations to support security agencies in strengthening community safety,” he said.
In his response, CSP Lijofi expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and encouraging.
“I don’t know how best to describe this gesture. You can count on us for effective public service delivery. This is a morale booster for us,” he said.
