Fresh fears have emerged in the Federal Capital Territory and parts of Niger State following reports of a suspected plan by Boko Haram and ISWAP elements to launch coordinated attacks on strategic installations.
Intelligence sources indicated that facilities such as the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the Kuje Custodial Centre, and a military detention facility in neighbouring Niger State may be targets.
The alleged plan is believed to be linked to efforts by insurgents to free detained members from correctional facilities.
A source in the Nigeria Customs Service acknowledged the circulation of a security alert but declined to elaborate, noting that the memo was strictly for internal use.
The development has heightened apprehension among residents, coming amid ongoing security concerns in the nation’s capital.
Despite the anxiety, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, reassured the public that there was no cause for alarm, maintaining that adequate measures were in place to ensure the safety of lives and property.
