President Bola Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council, relieving the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, of their duties.
The development was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Bayo Onanuga, who referenced an official memo endorsed by the SGF, George Akume.
According to the directive, Taiwo Oyedele has been appointed as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, while Dr Muttaqha Darma has been nominated to head the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
The affected ministers have been instructed to conclude all handover formalities with their successors on or before April 23, 2026.
Akume explained that the changes were part of efforts to enhance coordination and improve performance across critical sectors of the economy in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He added that the president exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in effecting the changes.
The statement further noted that the President commended the outgoing ministers for their contributions to national service and wished them success in their future engagements.
