Two suspects arrested over alleged rape of minors in Ondo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command, has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged rape of underage girls in separate incidents in Akure.

The Command disclosed that the arrests followed investigations into reported cases of sexual assault involving minors, as part of efforts to tackle such crimes in the state.

One of the suspects, Emeka Chidi Innocent, 22, a farmer, was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in the SIB area of Igbatoro on March 3, 2026.

He was said to have fled after the incident but was later tracked and apprehended in Idanre.

In a separate incident, Ayodele John, 38, a tiler, allegedly defiled a 15-year-old girl in her parents’ residence along Oda Road, Akure.

The suspect was reported to have committed the offence on April 13 and was arrested the following day.

According to the NSCDC, both suspects have made confessional statements and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Command reiterated its commitment to combating sexual offences and ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice, warning that such acts would not be tolerated.

It also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant, particularly when engaging artisans and other individuals who have access to their homes, stressing the need for proper background checks.

The agency noted that the suspects were known to the victims and their families, highlighting the importance of increased caution.

The Command assured residents of its resolve to continue protecting lives and maintaining law and order across the state.
