Members and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State have commended the conduct of the party’s House of Representatives direct primary election, describing the exercise as peaceful, credible and well organised across the state.
The primary election, which was held in the 203 wards across Ondo State, reportedly witnessed orderly conduct and impressive participation by party members in most local government areas.
Party leaders, aspirants and stakeholders who monitored the exercise applauded the peaceful atmosphere during the primaries, noting that the process reflected political maturity and discipline among members of the ruling party.
They also praised the leadership of the APC in the state for putting in place structures that ensured a smooth and transparent exercise.
Speaking with journalists after monitoring the election in Akure South Local Government Area, the council chairman, Gbenga Fasua, said party members conducted themselves peacefully without violence or intimidation.
According to him, eligible voters freely expressed their choices during the exercise, while turnout across the local government was impressive.
“Akure people have a culture of comportment and orderly conduct without disruption. People came out peacefully to express their views and make their choices,” Fasua said.
One of the aspirants for the Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency seat, Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole, also lauded the conduct of the primary election, describing the exercise as peaceful and less rancorous.
She noted that party members turned out in large numbers to participate in the direct primary in line with the rules and regulations of the party.
Olatunji-Ohwovoriole added that the orderly conduct of the exercise demonstrated the commitment of APC members to internal democracy and peaceful political engagement.
The House of Representatives primary election was conducted amid tight security across various parts of the state, with no major incident of violence reported during the exercise.
