BREAKING: Makinde emerges APM consensus Presidential candidate for 2027

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has emerged as the consensus presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement for the 2027 general election.

The governor was presented with a Certificate of Return on Saturday, formally confirming his emergence as the party’s flag bearer.

A video circulating on social media showed Makinde celebrating the development, waving to supporters and dancing after receiving the certificate.

His emergence comes amid growing concerns over the prolonged abduction of students and staff of Community High School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The school principal, Mrs Rachael Alamu, who was kidnapped alongside more than 40 students and members of staff, recently appealed to both the governor and the Federal Government to intensify efforts to secure their release.

In an emotional video released from captivity, Alamu urged the authorities to pursue dialogue with the abductors rather than a forceful rescue operation.

“I am pleading with the government once again. Governor Seyi Makinde should engage these people in dialogue. They should not use force. The operation carried out yesterday has worsened our situation,” she said.

The principal further alleged that one of the captives had been singled out by the kidnappers for execution, calling for urgent intervention to save their lives.

“We want the government to reach out to them and negotiate so that we can regain our freedom,” she added.

The appeal came 13 days after the victims were abducted from the school community.

The incident has generated public outrage, particularly following reports that one of the abducted teachers, Michael Oyedokun, was killed by the kidnappers last week.
