A Chief Magistrate Court in Yola, Adamawa State, has ordered the remand of two suspects over the alleged killing of a 14-year-old boy, Nyalli Muktari.
The defendants, Safiyanu Mohammed, 22, and Muhammed Bello, 20, were arraigned before Chief Magistrate Bello Ismail on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, theft and culpable homicide.
The court subsequently ordered that the suspects be remanded in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, ASP Zakka Musa, told the court that the alleged offences were committed on March 30, 2026, in Shelleng Local Government Area of the state.
He said a report was lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Shelleng over the disappearance of the victim from Babban Dada village.
According to the prosecutor, the boy’s lifeless body was later discovered in a nearby bush during a search, prompting investigations that led to the arrest of the suspects.
Musa alleged that the defendants had sent the victim to retrieve a mobile phone from the wife of one Saidu Modi under false pretences.
He said after the boy delivered the phone, the suspects allegedly killed him to prevent identification and dumped his body in the bush.
The prosecutor added that the suspects were apprehended after police operatives tracked the stolen phone, noting that they reportedly confessed to the crime.
The case was adjourned for further hearing.
