The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, has congratulated elder statesman and leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, on the occasion of his 100th birthday anniversary.
Ige described the former Pro-Chancellor of the institution as a rare leader whose life has been defined by integrity, selfless service and commitment to the development of the Yoruba race and Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Monday in Akungba-Akoko, the Vice Chancellor recalled Fasoranti’s tenure as the second Pro-Chancellor of the university between November 2001 and September 2003, noting that his contributions to the growth of the institution remained remarkable.
According to him, the elder statesman laid a strong foundation for academic excellence and prudent administration during his time at the university.
“Baba Fasoranti is a leader of leaders, a bridge builder and a man whose life has consistently reflected truth, sacrifice and commitment to humanity,” Ige stated.
The Vice Chancellor further described the centenarian as a devoted disciple of the late sage, Obafemi Awolowo, who has continued to uphold the values of discipline, courage and honour associated with the Yoruba Omoluabi ethos.
He added that Fasoranti remained a respected voice in the struggle for justice, democratic governance and true federalism in Nigeria.
“At 100, Baba still stands as a rallying point for good governance and national unity. His role during the military era and his contributions to the advancement of education in Ondo State and Nigeria will always be remembered,” he said.
Ige prayed for continued good health, strength and wisdom for the elder statesman, expressing hope that Nigeria would continue to benefit from his wealth of experience and counsel.
He also conveyed the goodwill of the university’s management, staff and students to Fasoranti as he marks the milestone birthday celebration.
