Ile-Oluji: FEDPOLEL holds valedictory session for late governing council member

The Governing Council and Management of the Federal PolytechnicIle-Oluji, have held a valedictory session in honour of a former council member, Solomon Baribote, who died in December 2025 at the age of 44.

The solemn event took place on Wednesday at the institution’s Council Chambers, where members of the council, management staff and associates paid glowing tributes to the deceased for his contributions to the growth of the polytechnic.

Speaking during the session, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Ademubowale Mercy Adelabu, described the late Baribote as a dedicated public servant who discharged his responsibilities with sincerity, patriotism and integrity.

She said the deceased distinguished himself during council deliberations through his honesty, diligence and commitment to consensus building.

According to her, Baribote was known for respecting opposing views while remaining focused on promoting the public good and institutional development.

Adelabu urged members of the institution to honour his memory by remaining committed to fairness, accountability and selfless service.

A minute of silence was later observed in honour of the late council member.

Also speaking, the Rector of the institution, Ademola Iyanda Ebeloku, described the deceased as a thoughtful and meticulous member of the Governing Council who was passionate about due process and the advancement of the institution.

He noted that Baribote’s contributions to the polytechnic and his dedication to public service would remain unforgettable despite his passing.

Other speakers at the event, including the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Gabriel Adeyemi Awe, alongside other council members, praised the deceased for his courage, sincerity and unwavering commitment to duty.

Special prayers were also offered for the repose of his soul and for strength for the family he left behind.

The valedictory session was attended by council members, principal officers, deans, directors and relatives of the deceased.

Baribote was appointed into the Governing Council of the institution on June 14, 2024. He is survived by his wife, children and other family members.
