JUST IN: Top Ondo APC leaders endorse Senator Adegbonmire for second term over empowerment, legislative performance

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo Central Senatorial District have thrown their weight behind the senator representing the district, Adeniyi Adegbonmire (SAN), endorsing him for a second term ahead of the party’s primaries for the 2027 general elections.

The party chieftains attributed their endorsement to what they described as the lawmaker’s impressive legislative performance and his large-scale empowerment initiatives across the district.

Speaking at separate stakeholders’ meetings held in Ondo and Akure, the APC leaders commended Adegbonmire’s recently organised Renewed Hope Mega Empowerment Programme, describing it as impactful and beneficial to residents of the district.

The leaders noted that the senator, who currently chairs the Senate Committee on Judiciary, had distinguished himself through effective representation, constituency projects and human capital development.

They said several communities in Ondo Central had benefited from empowerment schemes, scholarship opportunities and employment facilitation programmes initiated by the lawmaker within the last three years.

The empowerment programme, which drew key stakeholders from across the state, was attended by representatives of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, traditional rulers, religious leaders and party faithful.

Among dignitaries present were the state APC Chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, who represented the governor, and the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi.

Hundreds of beneficiaries reportedly received items including vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, generators, deep freezers, sewing machines, hair dryers and other tools aimed at boosting small businesses and improving household incomes.

Apart from the empowerment initiative, the senator was also credited with sponsoring educational support programmes, payment of school fees, distribution of laptops and construction of classrooms, libraries and laboratories in parts of the district.

Some of the projects facilitated by the lawmaker include the renovation of facilities at Oyemekun Grammar School and advocacy for the dualisation of the Akure-Ondo-Ore Road.

He was also said to have sponsored the proposed Federal University of Technology, Akure Teaching Hospital Bill at the National Assembly.

In the health sector, Adegbonmire was commended for rehabilitating health centres and improving access to healthcare services in rural communities.

He was equally praised for interventions in the power sector through the donation of transformers and support for electrification projects.

Speaking during the empowerment programme, Adegbonmire said the initiative was designed to support artisans, widows and small business owners in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

“The cash incentive is for artisans and widows to support and grow their businesses. As members of the APC and the National Assembly, we will continue to support the President because of the positive impact of his policies,” he said.

An APC leader in Ondo Central, Alhaji Olawoye, described the senator as a performing lawmaker whose representation had produced visible results.

“This is the type of representation the APC should be proud of. Senator Adegbonmire is delivering practical support to the people through empowerment, education and youth development,” he said.

Also speaking, an APC chieftain from Ondo West Local Government Area, Ayotunde Bally, said the senator had combined effective lawmaking with strong grassroots engagement.

“From sponsoring strategic bills to facilitating employment opportunities and empowerment programmes, he has shown commitment to quality representation,” he stated.

A former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Ondo State, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi, also praised the lawmaker’s contributions, saying his programmes had positively impacted widows, students, artisans and other vulnerable groups across the district.
