Lere West APC stakeholders back Tom Garba ahead of primaries

Stakeholders and grassroots supporters of the All Progressives Congress in Lere West, Kaduna State, have rallied behind an aspirant for the State House of Assembly, Tom Garba, describing him as the party’s best chance of victory in the forthcoming elections.

The endorsement comes as the party prepares for its primaries, with party leaders, youths, women groups and community influencers expressing confidence in Garba’s candidacy.

Speaking with journalists, a party member, Nehemiah, said Garba’s track record in youth empowerment and community development distinguished him among other aspirants.

“Garba represents the kind of leadership people desire. He is accessible and has consistently demonstrated commitment to the welfare of the people,” he said.

A women leader in the area, Jummai, also backed the aspirant, noting that his interventions in supporting widows and promoting girl-child education had earned him widespread support.

According to her, “He has shown capacity and compassion. The party should consider the will of the people and give him the ticket.”

An elder in the community, Umar, highlighted Garba’s appeal among young people, stating that his initiatives had helped address unemployment and skills gaps in the area.

Similarly, Ibrahim described the aspirant as a unifying figure with acceptance across religious and social divides.

“He has built bridges and commands respect across different groups. That is the kind of candidate Lere West needs,” he said.

Another supporter, Jauro, commended Garba’s contributions to small businesses and artisans, while Salamatu maintained that his popularity cut across the entire constituency.

Observers say the growing endorsement reflects the strategic importance of Lere West in Kaduna politics, noting that the APC would require a broadly acceptable candidate to maintain its dominance in the constituency.

With the primaries drawing closer, party supporters have urged the APC leadership at both state and national levels to heed the calls from the grassroots and consider Garba as its flagbearer.
