An abducted Oyo school principal, Mrs. Alamu, has appealed to the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts toward securing the freedom of teachers and pupils being held by kidnappers.
In a distress video circulating online on Thursday, the visibly emotional principal pleaded with President Bola Tinubu, the Nigeria Union of Teachers and other relevant authorities to urgently intervene before the captives suffer further harm.
Mrs. Alamu disclosed that the victims had remained in captivity for several weeks under harsh conditions, lamenting that both teachers and schoolchildren were enduring severe hardship in the kidnappers’ camp.
She also alleged that the abductors had threatened to kill one of the victims following an earlier rescue operation reportedly carried out by security operatives.
According to her, tension among the captives has continued to rise as the kidnappers become increasingly agitated.
The video has since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the safety of the victims and calling on authorities to act swiftly.
The incident has also renewed concerns about the growing rate of kidnappings targeting schools and communities across the country.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had yet to issue an official statement regarding the latest video.
