The candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency, Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole, has expressed appreciation to party leaders, delegates and supporters following her victory at the party’s primary election.
In a statement issued after the exercise, the APC flag bearer described her emergence as the party’s candidate as a victory for the people of the constituency, particularly women, youths and loyal party members who supported her aspiration.
She commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what she described as his commitment to democratic governance and the growth of the APC across the country.
The lawmaker hopeful also praised Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for providing leadership that ensured a peaceful and transparent primary process.
According to her, the governor’s style of leadership, fairness and dedication to party unity contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the election, while also creating opportunities for women and youths to participate actively in politics.
Omowunmi further appreciated the APC National Screening Committee for conducting what she termed a credible and transparent screening exercise, applauding members of the committee for upholding the integrity of the party’s internal democratic process.
She equally commended the Ondo State APC Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, for his support and coordination throughout the primary election.
The APC candidate also extended gratitude to party executives, ward coordinators, women leaders, youths, delegates and supporters who played roles in her emergence as the party’s candidate.
She acknowledged fellow aspirants who stepped down in support of her ambition, describing their actions as a demonstration of loyalty, maturity and commitment to the progress of the APC.
The Akure-born politician called on party members and stakeholders to close ranks ahead of the general election, stressing the need for reconciliation and unity within the party.
“This victory is not for me alone, but for every progressive-minded person who believes in service, development and genuine representation,” she said.
Omowunmi reaffirmed her commitment to quality representation, women and youth empowerment, and the attraction of developmental projects to Akure North and South Federal Constituency.
