Suspected kidnappers have abducted a businessman, Wasiu Aleshinloye, in the Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State, leaving a 10-year-old girl injured during the operation.

The incident reportedly occurred on Monday night at Irawo in Ago-Are, where the attackers stormed the victim’s residence after allegedly tracking his movements.

Confirming the development on Tuesday, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the case was reported at the Tede Police Division around 10:20 p.m.

According to him, preliminary findings indicated that the abductors monitored Aleshinloye from Kraal Market in Ago-Are to his petrol station before following him home.

“The armed men reportedly trailed the victim from the market to his business premises and later to his residence, where they forcefully whisked him away to an unknown location,” Olayinka said.

The police spokesman disclosed that during the attack, a young girl identified as Modinat Aleshinloye sustained gunshot injuries.

He noted that the victim was quickly taken to a medical facility for urgent treatment.

Olayinka added that officers who visited the scene recovered spent ammunition shells and other items believed to have been left behind by the assailants.

He said security operatives had launched coordinated tactical operations and intelligence gathering aimed at rescuing the abducted businessman and arresting those behind the crime.

The police also assured residents that efforts were ongoing to strengthen security in the area and prevent further attacks.
