The Peoples Democratic Party in Adamawa State on Sunday affirmed Chief Dr Maurice Vunobolki as its sole governorship candidate for the 2027 election amid a massive show of support at Ribadu Square in Yola.
Thousands of party loyalists and supporters from across the 21 local government areas of the state reportedly gathered at the venue, chanting solidarity songs and displaying banners in support of the PDP flag bearer.
The rally, which drew party leaders, delegates and youth groups, was described by supporters as a major boost for the PDP ahead of the 2027 governorship contest.
Speaking at the event, Vunobolki pledged to build on the achievements of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, promising to prioritise youth empowerment, agriculture, healthcare, education and infrastructure development if elected.
He also vowed to promote inclusive governance, transparency and economic growth in the state.
“Our administration will focus on people-oriented programmes that will improve the living conditions of Adamawa residents and consolidate on the developmental strides already recorded in the state,” he said.
Party stakeholders at the rally expressed confidence in Vunobolki’s chances at the polls, describing him as a seasoned administrator with the capacity to unite the state and sustain development.
A prominent supporter at the gathering said the growing support for the PDP was an indication that many residents believed the party remained the best platform to move the state forward.
Another party chieftain noted that the large turnout at Ribadu Square reflected the confidence many party members and supporters had in Vunobolki’s leadership.
Observers said the event further intensified political activities in Adamawa ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with the PDP positioning itself for a keen contest against opposition parties.
The rally ended with renewed calls for grassroots mobilisation and sustained engagement with voters across the state as preparations for the election gather momentum.
