One of the governorship aspirants in the All Progressives Congress primary election in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Haske, has expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, citing alleged lapses in the collation process.
Haske, in a statement issued after the primary election, claimed that the declaration of the winner came before the completion of vote collation in some local government areas.
He said members of his camp were still expecting the collation exercise to commence when the result was announced.
“While we were awaiting the collation of results, we were shocked to hear the declaration of a winner. We have compiled our own figures and consultations are ongoing before we make our official position known,” he stated.
The APC chieftain stressed that credibility and openness remained vital elements in any democratic process, especially during party primaries.
According to him, the confidence of party members can only be sustained when electoral procedures are transparent and inclusive.
“The outcome of any election is important, but the process leading to it must also inspire trust among stakeholders,” he added.
Haske appealed to his supporters across the state to remain calm and avoid actions capable of causing tension within the party.
He said consultations were already underway with party leaders and other stakeholders to determine the next course of action through lawful and democratic means.
The aspirant also expressed appreciation to party faithful and supporters for their backing throughout the governorship race, reaffirming his commitment to the ideals and unity of the APC.
