The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State on Friday conducted its House of Assembly and governorship primary elections peacefully, with party stakeholders commending the exercise for its orderly and transparent process.

The primaries, supervised by the committee led by Rt. Hon. Taofiq Olawale Abdulsalam, witnessed large turnout of party members across several wards in the state as delegates and voters participated in the direct primary exercise.

Reports from different parts of the state indicated that the exercise was largely hitch-free, with adherence to the party’s guidelines and electoral procedures.

Members of the primary election committee monitored the exercise in parts of Ibadan, including the wards of Senator Sharafadeen Alli and Chief Bayo Adelabu, while receiving updates from other local government areas across the state.

The committee observed that voting processes were conducted peacefully, with security operatives maintaining order as electoral officials carried out their responsibilities without disruption.

Speaking with journalists after the exercise, Abdulsalam praised party members, security agencies and electoral officials for their cooperation and commitment to a peaceful process.

He said the smooth conduct of the primaries reflected the determination of stakeholders and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to uphold credible and transparent internal party elections.

Abdulsalam assured aspirants and their supporters of fairness in the process, adding that the National Working Committee of the APC would officially announce the winners of the primaries.

Party leaders and observers also applauded the committee for what they described as professionalism and effective coordination during the exercise.
