A United Kingdom-based Nigerian man, identified on X as Ugo (@heismric), has confirmed the dissolution of his marriage following a viral social media outburst in which he accused his wife of infidelity.
Ugo disclosed that the marriage was officially terminated after a UK court granted a final divorce order, bringing an end to a relationship that had once attracted admiration online.
The social media user had earlier shared a series of emotional posts alleging that his wife was involved with another man while he worked in the UK to support the family financially.
According to him, their relationship began with a proposal in January 2023 before they got married in December of the same year.
The couple later welcomed a child in 2024, after which he relocated his wife to the UK.
He claimed he was solely responsible for the family’s upkeep, including payment of her tuition fees and expenses during pregnancy and childbirth.
Ugo also stated that he developed digital applications aimed at supporting his wife and child as part of efforts to build a stable family.
Following the birth of their child, he reportedly gifted her a car, a gesture that generated reactions online at the time.
However, the marriage later hit the rocks after allegations of infidelity surfaced.
In one of the now-deleted posts that circulated widely on social media, Ugo accused his wife of bringing another man into their home while he was away in London working.
“It’s crazy you’re in my house, sleeping with another man, but I’m in London working my ass out to pay your school fees in GBP. No! Send your tuition to that man. He’s man enough to sleep with another man’s wife; he should match it with his funds. Divorce finalised,” he wrote.
He further alleged that his wife’s family failed to condemn the alleged act and instead continued to request financial assistance for her education.
The controversy sparked mixed reactions online, with some social media users expressing sympathy for him while others faulted him for taking private marital issues to the public space.
Some users also revisited his previous posts in which he openly celebrated and displayed affection for his wife on social media.
Confirming the separation in a follow-up post on Monday, Ugo wrote, “UGO’s wife. Divorce is finalised. It’s ex-wife.”
He later shared a screenshot purportedly showing an official notification from the UK HM Courts and Tribunals Service confirming that the marriage had been legally dissolved.
