A 37-year-old man, Ziaulihak Zakari, has allegedly confessed to receiving N500,000 to carry out an acid attack on a female spa worker in the Lakowe area of Lagos.
The victim, Olorunseunfunmi Awosogbon, reportedly sustained severe injuries to her head, chest and hands during the incident, which occurred on October 25, 2025.
It was gathered that the victim had gone to honour a home service appointment booked through the spa where she worked when the attack happened at Lakowe Golf Gate near Utmost Care Hospital in the Ibeju-Lekki area.
Findings, however, revealed that Awosogbon was not the intended target.
Her employer, Olorunmaye Ifeoluwa, alleged that the attack was connected to a dispute involving a former relationship between her and another suspect accused of orchestrating the assault.
According to her, the relationship was marked by disagreements before it eventually ended.
Zakari and another suspect, Owolabi Daniel, were subsequently arraigned before an Ebute-Metta Magistrate Court on charges bordering on conspiracy, threat to life and causing bodily harm.
In a video reportedly recorded after his arrest on March 19, 2026, Zakari admitted he was hired to carry out the attack but mistakenly assaulted the wrong person.
“There is a man named Daniel who contacted me through a security guard and told me he had a job. When he said he needed someone to pour acid on a person, I agreed,” he said.
He added that he initially failed to execute the plan because he was afraid, but later attacked the wrong victim during another attempt.
Zakari further claimed that the acid used for the attack was supplied by the alleged sponsor and the security guard who linked him to the job.
He said he received N500,000 for carrying out the attack and paid N50,000 to the intermediary.
According to the charge sheet, the suspects allegedly conspired in October 2025 to commit felony offences, including threats to life and inflicting bodily harm, contrary to the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The document also alleged that Daniel threatened Ifeoluwa through WhatsApp messages, while Zakari was accused of unlawfully pouring a corrosive substance on Awosogbon.
