A middle-aged man, Femi Olamitoke, has been arraigned before an Akungba-Akoko Magistrate's Court in Ondo State for allegedly threatening to kill a man identified as Afuye Muhammed with a knife.
The defendant was brought before the court on a two-count charge bordering on threat to life by the police.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Boboye, told the court that the alleged offence occurred on June 8, 2026, at about 8:10 p.m. within the Akungba-Akoko Magisterial District.
Boboye alleged that before threatening the complainant, the defendant had caused a disturbance in his household. He added that the offence contravened Section 86 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Olamitoke pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.
Defence counsel, Bode Wolemiwa, urged the court to admit his client to bail, assuring the court that the defendant would not jump bail if granted the application.
In her ruling, Magistrate K.A. Kolawole admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like amount.
The case comes days after the defendant was reportedly linked to a separate charge involving the alleged stabbing of a student, according to an earlier report.
