Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of harbouring deep mistrust against him, claiming that the Senate leader views him as a “devil” and would have shut him out of the upper chamber if he had his way.
Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State, made the remarks during an interview on Mic on Podcast, where he also suggested growing discontent among senators over Akpabio’s leadership style.
He said tensions within the Senate were already reshaping the dynamics of the 11th National Assembly, warning that it would differ significantly from the previous one.
“He is paranoid about everything that has to do with me. Everybody in the Senate knows that if Sen. If Akpabio has his way, he will lock me out of the Senate because he has misled himself into thinking that I’m probably the devil he knows.
“However, there are many agents he doesn’t know, and the 11th Senate will not be the 10th Senate. This I can say, senators are groveling about his style of leadership,” he said.
The former APC national chairman further claimed that discomfort with Akpabio’s leadership style was not limited to him, insisting that some lawmakers were quietly expressing dissatisfaction.
The rift between both former governors-turned-senators has reportedly deepened following disagreements linked to amendments of Senate rules ahead of the 2027 political cycle.
Tensions had previously escalated on the floor of the Senate during deliberations on changes to Orders 4 and 5 of the standing rules, resulting in heated exchanges among lawmakers.
