Gospel music minister Judikay has opened up on a harrowing medical experience during her second pregnancy, revealing how a routine scan in Canada allegedly triggered fears that her unborn child had severe abnormalities.
The singer, whose real name is Judith Kanayo-Opara, said the incident occurred when she was about 34 weeks pregnant and had travelled to Canada for delivery care.
Speaking during her daughter’s dedication service, she recounted that an ultrasound examination produced disturbing findings, including claims that the baby was not breathing and had no nose, while she was also advised to undergo further testing for Down syndrome.
According to her, the report left her shaken, prompting her to reach out to her husband for guidance. She said he advised her to disregard the medical findings and avoid further tests, a decision the couple ultimately stood by.
“At 34 weeks, I went for a scan and they said my baby had no nose and was not breathing. They also recommended a Down syndrome test. I called my husband and he told me to tear the report and we were not doing any test,” she recounted.
Judikay said the couple instead chose to hold onto their faith and continue with the pregnancy without additional medical procedures as suggested.
She further revealed that she was eventually delivered of her baby safely, although doctors later discovered that the umbilical cord had been wrapped around the baby’s neck twice in the womb.
The singer, who has previously spoken about multiple pregnancy challenges before the birth of her second child, described the experience as a deeply emotional journey marked by fear, faith, and eventual gratitude.
Her testimony has since drawn wide attention from fans, many of whom have continued to celebrate her resilience and the safe delivery of her child.
