The Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, has concluded plans to implement an electronic appraisal system for its 2026 annual staff review exercise as part of efforts to modernise its performance evaluation process and improve administrative efficiency.
The institution disclosed this during a one-day sensitisation programme on the e-appraisal platform held at its 1,500-capacity Multipurpose Auditorium, where academic, senior non-teaching and junior staff members were introduced to the new system.
Speaking at the event, the Rector, Dr. Ademola Ebeloku, represented by the Deputy Rector, Dr. Samson Omogbehin, said the initiative would promote transparency, accountability and efficiency in staff performance assessment.
According to him, the digital platform will enable members of staff and their supervisors to complete appraisal processes online, monitor performance indicators, provide feedback and generate reports more accurately and within a shorter timeframe.
The Rector added that the innovation would also reduce paperwork and administrative costs, improve decision-making and strengthen the monitoring of staff development and institutional performance.
Also speaking, the Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Awe, said the institution's management had approved the deployment of the e-appraisal system for the 2026 annual staff review exercise.
He explained that the sensitisation programme was organised to familiarise staff with the operation of the platform ahead of its rollout.
Awe described the e-appraisal platform as a paperless system designed to protect appraisal records, minimise administrative costs, shorten the appraisal process and ensure secure long-term storage of personnel records.
He urged workers to embrace the initiative, stressing that its success would depend on the cooperation and commitment of all stakeholders.
During a practical demonstration, the Assistant Registrar in the Personnel Affairs Division, Mr. Ayodeji Olugboyega, guided participants through the features of the platform, explaining that access would be available exclusively through staff members' official institutional email addresses on the Polytechnic's website.
Participants at the interactive session called for a flexible implementation timetable and the resolution of identified technical issues before the full deployment of the platform.
In response, the management assured staff that all observations and recommendations would be considered to ensure the successful implementation of the e-appraisal system.
The programme was attended by the Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Fasa Aladeniyi, deans of schools, directors, heads of departments, divisions and other principal officers of the institution.
