The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced the recruitment of ad hoc personnel for the August 15, 2026, governorship election in Osun State, inviting eligible Nigerians to apply for various election-related assignments.
The commission, in a notice issued on Monday, said vacancies are available for Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Technical Support Staff and Registration Area Centre Managers.
INEC stated that applications would be processed through its INECPRES online portal, adding that registration opened on June 27 and would close automatically at midnight on July 18.
According to the commission, officers on Grade Levels 12 to 14 in the Federal Public Service and Ministries, Departments and Agencies are eligible to serve as Supervisory Presiding Officers. It added that priority would be given to qualified personnel from the National Youth Service Corps, National Orientation Agency, National Identity Management Commission and National Population Commission, while eligible INEC staff not assigned other election duties could also apply.
The electoral body further disclosed that serving corps members, ex-corps members who completed national service between 2024 and 2026, penultimate-year students of federal tertiary institutions, as well as permanent federal MDA staff on Grade Levels 7 to 10 with OND or NCE qualifications, are qualified for appointment as Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers.
It explained that Registration Area Centre Managers would be selected from heads of schools or officials of institutions designated as Registration Area Centres, while Registration Area Technical Support Staff would be drawn from qualified ICT personnel within the commission who are not deployed for other election assignments.
INEC, however, warned that applicants must not belong to any political party or have publicly demonstrated support for any political party or candidate, stressing that neutrality remained a key requirement for all ad hoc election officials.
The commission urged interested applicants to complete their registration before the July 18 deadline, noting that late submissions would not be considered ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
