The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has directed all its branches across Nigeria to suspend vigils and ensure that all church activities end by 8:00 p.m. daily, citing rising security concerns in the country.
The directive was contained in an internal circular dated June 5, 2026, and signed by the church’s Director of Administration (International Headquarters and Nigeria), Temitope A. Olawale.
According to the circular, the decision was taken as a precautionary step to protect members, ministers and workers amid worsening insecurity across various parts of the country.
The church instructed all levels of leadership, including regional overseers, zonal pastors and branch pastors, to ensure strict compliance with the new guideline without delay.
Under the new arrangement, all services, meetings and programmes are expected to be concluded not later than 8:00 p.m., while overnight vigils and similar prayer gatherings have been suspended indefinitely.
However, the ministry noted that where necessary, evening prayer meetings may still hold, provided they end before the 8:00 p.m. deadline.
The leadership stressed that the adjustment was not intended to disrupt worship activities, but to prioritise the safety and well-being of members in view of prevailing security realities.
It added that the directive takes immediate effect and will remain in place until further review by the church authorities.
The circular also instructed Mega Regional Overseers to ensure that the directive is communicated across all regions, zones and branches for full compliance.
