An Akure Magistrate’s Court in Ondo State has ordered the remand of three men over their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of two children in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The defendants, Taofeek Lukman, 23, Peter Moses, 25, and Sunday Isaac, 23, were arraigned by the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, on a charge of kidnapping.
Prosecutor Adebayo Suleiman told the court that the suspects allegedly committed the offence on May 12, 2026, in Ore alongside others who are still at large.
He alleged that the defendants kidnapped two siblings, Joe Andrew, 10, and Judia Andrew, 5, and demanded a ransom of N50m from their family.
According to the prosecutor, the suspects had already received N3.67m from the ransom before they were apprehended.
Suleiman further told the court that N251,000 was recovered from the defendants during investigations.
He said the alleged offence contravened Section 8 of the Ondo State Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Abduction Law, 2006.
The presiding magistrate, Damilola Sekoni, ordered the remand of the defendants at the Olokuta Correctional Centre and adjourned the case till June 10, 2026, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
