The Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB) has dismissed claims circulating on social media alleging that N785.5 million was released for school projects that were never executed across parts of the state.
The Board said the report misrepresented facts and created a false impression about its procurement and project implementation processes, which it described as transparent and strictly regulated.
The allegation had listed several schools, including AUD Ibaka/Ilale Quarters in Akungba, Army Primary School Annex II in Akure, and Ayedun Community Primary School, Akure, among others, claiming that funds were released without corresponding work.
In a statement, ODSUBEB clarified that no contracts matching the described projects, locations, or financial figures were ever awarded under its official records.
It stressed that all projects under its supervision follow due process in line with the Public Procurement Act and UBEC guidelines, including public advertisement, bidding, and monitoring.
The Board further noted that ongoing interventions under the 2025 UBEC-SUBEB Matching Grant were publicly advertised in national newspapers, including The Tribune, Vanguard, and The Hope, in line with statutory requirements.
While rejecting the allegations, ODSUBEB acknowledged that it had previously executed classroom renovation projects at some of the affected schools under earlier intervention programmes in 2021 and 2023.
It urged members of the public and accountability groups to verify information with relevant authorities before making conclusions, warning that unverified claims could mislead citizens and undermine public trust in government institutions.
The statement, signed by the Head of Media and Public Relations, Banjo Egunjobi, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and improved basic education delivery across Ondo State.
