Fresh controversy has erupted within the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress as the Ondo Progressives Network rejected the list of candidates released by the party's National Working Committee, alleging that it did not reflect the outcome of the recently conducted primary elections.
The Coordinator of the group, Idowu Falade, who addressed journalists in Akure on Monday, accused the party's national leadership of replacing the names of candidates who emerged victorious during the Senate and House of Representatives primaries.
Falade maintained that the list released by the National Working Committee was inconsistent with the results announced immediately after the primaries, insisting that the authentic list should be restored to preserve the credibility of the party's internal democratic process.
"We reject the list released by the National Working Committee because it does not represent the true outcome of the primary elections. The authentic list of winners initially released should be reinstated in the interest of justice, fairness and the integrity of our party," he said.
He urged the APC leadership to review the circumstances surrounding the publication of the disputed list and ensure that candidates who secured victory at the primaries were recognised.
According to him, members of the Ondo Progressives Network remain loyal to the party but would continue to demand transparency and fairness in the selection of its candidates.
Falade called on the National Working Committee to immediately withdraw the controversial list and republish what he described as the original list of successful aspirants endorsed by delegates during the primaries.
The protest adds to growing discontent within the Ondo APC over the outcome of the party's primary process, with aggrieved members urging the leadership to address their concerns to prevent further internal divisions ahead of the elections.
